Allergy Season is Here
13. April 2010 by admin.
Information for those who suffer with seasonal allergies
I have a LOT of trouble with allergies every year about this time. My daughter sent me this article from Manuka Honey USA so I thought I’d share it here, for others who might also be suffering with seasonal allergies.
Frequently Asked Questions about Seasonal Allergies
How can I find out what I’m allergic to?
Your local doctor can send you to an allergy testing
center, to find out what you may be allergic to. There
are different methods of testing, such as a skin test to
certain types of allergens, analyzing the blood for the
presence and levels of allergen-specific IgE and other
testing methods.
What are common types of allergy treatments?
- anti-histamines (yep, I’ve taken)
- steroids (I’ve taken these but try to avoid them)
- oral medication (yes, done that)
- immunotherapy to desensitize the response to allergens
- Epinephrine. Allergies that affect the upper respiratory
system, can cause broncho-constriction, which can lead
to coma or death. Because of the suddenness that this
type of reaction can occur, people suffering from aller-
gies affecting the upper respiratory tract, are most likely
instructed by their physician to always carry an EpiPen,
also called a Twinject which contains epinephrine.
How can I strengthen my immune system to
help lessen allergy symptoms?
Using Regular Manuka Honey on a daily basis as sugar
replacement in warm tea, on toast, or just a teaspoon
once or twice a day, seems to significantly help streng-
then the immune system all naturally.
The Regular Manuka Honey naturally destroys staphylo-
coccus and streptococcus, the bacteria typically involved
in sore throats, colds and sinus infections. The stronger
the immune system, the less likely you will experience
these common illnesses over time.
